The story of Soapy Smith is a mixture of fact and fiction. The description of his death it totally wrong. He was not killed by Reid but by James murphy who, in fact murdered Smith with his own rifle.
It is disconcerting to find such a gross error that it makes ones doubt the veracity of the entire book, unless independent verification can be obtained..
